I was very thrown off by the Frontiersman comments validating the KKK. It seemed out of place to me. The only thing I can think of is that the article "Honor is Like the Hawk: Sometimes it must go Hooded" was simply another example of how human and imperfect everyone in this book is - masked, drifting at sea, or writing an editorial. It's a sad reality in which even the good parts aren't totally good.

Do you think since the comment on the KKK brought in the relationship of morality that maybe the Frontiersman was trying to say that while the Vigilanties think they are taking a moral stance... maybe, in retrospect, their choices are off? I have to say I was thrown too. I'm hoping they weren't validating the KKK, but relating circumstances.

One of my favorite things about the Watchmen is how it makes the case that absolute good and evil are fictions (many modern conceptions of which probably came out of the idea of a comic book superheroes and a villains).

In the case of New Frontiersman, the editorial board are in many ways awful (portrayed in several instances to be racist, xenophobic, etc.) and yet they happen to pick up on things that the other news source overlooks (such as publishing on the missing author). At the same time, Nova Express is often shown to be no better than tabloid trash that is, like New Frontiersman, often just looking to increase circulation, as seen with their accusatory yet unsubstantiated articles about Dr. Manhattan and cancer.
